The year before we traveled around my second home Malaysia. But now, in 2010, it was time for the opposite side of the world: A breathtaking trip to Centroamérica:

In Mexico we dig deeper into history along the Ruta Maya. We climb, jump and swim Yucatan‘s Cenotes - stalactites dangling overhead.

En route to Honduras we indulge the picturesque Guatemalan landscape. Reviving at Lake Izabal, scaling Mayan pyramids and petting huge tarantula at world-famous Tikal we move to the Carribean sea again. We put our feet up in laid-back Lívingston.

In Honduras we meet up with old friends. On Roatán & the Cayos Cochinos we immerse into a mind-blowing underwater world. On nearby Río Cangrejál we take on Class-V-Rapids. Off-the-beaten-track we kick back in a remote universe making new friends and heaving heaps of fun together with CouchSurfers.

We continue hitch-hiking: A never-ending adventure with people from all walks of life: With farmers on a pick-up, in huge trailers & with Burger King-truck.

In El Salvador we relish the dazzling mercados and the calm highland pueblos sparkling with Cuban atmosphere.

Just before leaving we savour coffee at its best in must-see Antigua Guatemala – the Central American Mallorca.

Back home we turn some rough coffee bags into beanbags so we can sit on our heap of experiences. Thanks to all CouchSurfers!
